So this happened about 2 weekends ago. I kinda heard about it last minute. As I said earlier, there is always several festivals going on somewhere in Korea on any given weekend. This one was out in the sticks. Most of the time you can bus to just about any of them but this one was very out of the way from major routes. Took us 2 buses and a train to get there but it was all very cheap and speedy enough. Best of all was that it started raining early on on the first day which thinned out the crowds a LOT for us.
This is near the Minbak we stayed at. Just across the river was the festival. I love these misty photos, reminds me of the bike trip and of the Oregon coast.
This was a lot harder to cross than it looks, we lost several good men and a few ok women to that river! Especially after the rain 😦
There was a 10,000 lanter lighting ceremony going on at the same time as the Green Tea festival at the Budhist temple in the hills above the town. Fortunately the rain kept away virtually ALL of the locals and we had the whole temple to ourselves.
These guys were guarding the place, and they were HUGE.
