My buddy James “The Kiwi,” my Korean Doctor Calvin, and myself went snowboarding to Gangwon-do a few weekends ago. It was a blast and the timing could not have been better as there was record snow fall in Korea, and the rest of the world, just earlier that week. The weather was cold but clear and the lines were not even too bad!
Calvin rented a mini bus again to get there as well as a very nice pension. We were joined by most of the staff at our favorite local watering hole, Cockstails. Not too much else to say about the trip other than the bus ride was miserable as my stomach kept getting upset. I think that I still had a bit of a stomach bug from the weekend prior when I was rather ill.
Snowboarding in Korea is pretty cheap as well. We went to the resort called High 1 and it is the newest, largest resort in all of Korea. The price, including rental of boots, bindings, board, clothes, goggles, gloves and lift ticket was only 70,000 won (about $60)! Not too shabby if you ask me!
